Start Off with the Right Base

The key to any makeup look is a great base. During the summer season, you the less you have on your face the better. During the season, it’s best to start with an oil free, hydrating moisturizer, then add your hyaluronic acid and some vitamin C serum. Using oil-free products helps give your face a natural glow instead of a greasy look.

First you want to start out with a good moisturizer, my current favorite is the La Roche-Posay Gel Moisturizer. This is great for oily skin, it's a matte finish but super hydrating that a little dollop goes a long way. I've listed below a few other of my past favorites that are hydrating and perfect for summer.

Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C Serum

The next steps are for hyaluronic acid and vitamin C serum. Hyaluronic acid is great for fine lines and wrinkles while vitamin C helps to repair sun damage & to slow early skin aging. My current faves for both of these are below, the La Roche-Posay Pure Hyaluronic Acid and the Tula Vitamin C serum

Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen!

Applying sunscreen under your makeup is a must for any time of year. But especially in the summer months. You're spending so much time outside that your face will need to be protected. Reapplying can be a bit tricky if you're putting makeup on but you can always use a powdered sunscreen like the Hawaiian Tropic Mineral Powder Sunscreen Brush.

Less is more — Especially in the summer.

While you might not need foundation during the summer months, sometimes it is necessary. But if you're looking for a lighter weight, buildable coverage products, like a C.C cream. My current favorite is the E.L.F Halo Glow

To keep to the less is more concept, try putting all your liquid products on in one layer; concealer, foundation, contour & blush. Then go back in with a slightly damp beauty blender and beginning with the concealer (lightest shade), start blending everything together.

This gives your skin a nice, even and glowy look without all the layers. You can go back in and add more product in problem areas if needed.

Set Your Face with Powder

The last step is to set your face. Using a setting powder locks everything into place & can prevent creasing. It'll help give you an all day matte look no matter what the temperature says!

Simplifying your skincare and makeup routine for the summer is where it's at. It gets you out the door quicker & not feeling like your face is melting off. Honestly, this is the type of skincare routine that is great for all year round. In the colder months, you can switch up the less pigmented products with something a little heavier to give you more coverage if needed.
