5 Morning Hacks That Help Me Juggle Mom Life & My Disney Side Hustle

Let’s be real for a moment, mornings are a blur when you’re a working mom. Add in a side hustle (hello, Disney travel agent life!) and it’s easy to feel like you’re spinning plates before the sun even rises. I commute into NYC four days a week, which means I’m often out the door before 6:30 AM and not home again until after 5:30 PM. I’m also managing a household, caring for my son, supporting my family, and running a growing Disney planning business on the side. It’s a full plate—but it’s one I wouldn’t trade.

Over the last 6 months, I’ve found five powerful morning habits that help me balance all the moving parts of my life, without losing my mind or dropping the magic. These morning hacks are realistic, repeatable, and rooted in the life of a real working mom.

If you’ve ever wished you had more energy, more time, or more clarity to tackle your day while still keeping your Disney side hustle alive, this post is for you.

Hack #1: Wake Up Before the World (Even When It Feels Impossible)

Let’s start with the hardest one, and the most transformative.

I wake up between 4:00 and 4:30 AM on M-T. Yes, that early. On Friday’s I work from home, so I can start my morning a little later, but I still follow all of my routines. And yes, I know that sounds insane to most people. But hear me out: those quiet, uninterrupted hours before the rest of the house wakes up are where I find my peace, my productivity, and my power.

In those early hours, I’m not a mom, commuter, employee, or house manager—I’m me. I can write blog posts, schedule Instagram content, respond to travel client inquiries, squeeze in a 30–45 minute workout, and even enjoy a quiet coffee without someone asking for a snack. Even just 60–90 minutes of dedicated time in the morning allows me to work on my Disney business—and my health—without feeling like I’m stealing time from my family later.

How I make it work:

  • I’m in bed by 10:00 PM, even if it means saying no to Netflix or scrolling.
  • I prep my planner, laptop, water bottle, and workout gear the night before, so I can move straight into my routine without thinking.
  • I use a gentle alarm app (like Sleep Cycle or Alarmy) that eases me awake without jolting me, and I turn off notifications so I’m not distracted by messages or social media.

Pro Tip: Start small. If 4:00 AM feels overwhelming, try waking up just 15–30 minutes earlier for a week. You’ll be surprised how much clarity and space even that small shift gives you.

Hack #2: Prepare the Night Before (Because Mornings Are Too Chaotic for Decision-Making)

Even as someone who loves organization, I still found myself frazzled in the mornings, forgetting my water bottle, realizing I hadn’t packed lunch, or rushing out the door. The mental load was too much. So I decided to move all my thinking to the night before, wherever possible.

While my husband handles the morning routine with our son, including getting him ready for school and doing drop-off, my prep still makes or breaks the day.

Here’s what I do each night to stay sane:

  • Lay out my clothes (including shoes, jewelry, and coat).
  • Pack my work bag with anything I’ll need—laptop, chargers, planner, water bottle.
  • Load the coffee maker so it’s ready to brew at 4:30 AM.
  • Review my calendar and to-do list so I know exactly what’s coming.
  • Set out anything I need for my side hustle (laptop, camera, blog notebook, etc.).

I prep my son’s lunch and snacks in the morning; it’s a quick task I’ve worked into my morning flow while sipping coffee or warming up for a workout. He’s 7 now and picks out his clothes, which is a small but huge help in our morning rhythm!

Why it matters for my Disney side hustle:

Doing this prep gives me space in the mornings to focus on my business without the distraction of forgotten tasks or last-minute scrambling. That mental clarity means I can be creative and efficient before my workday even starts.

Hack #3: Theme Your Mornings (So You Don’t Waste Time Deciding What to Do)

One of the hardest parts of having a side hustle while working full-time is simply figuring out when to do what. There’s always something you “could” be doing, whether that’s writing content, checking client emails, researching Disney updates, designing social posts, the list can go on forever. But it’s easy to get overwhelmed or waste time figuring out where to start.

Enter: morning theming

Each weekday morning, I give myself a theme or focus. That way, I don’t have to decide what to work on. I show up and get going.

Here’s an example of how I theme my mornings:

  • Monday – Plan weekly social media & blog post content
  • Tuesday – Follow up with travel clients, reply to inquiries
  • Wednesday – Design Pinterest pins, Canva templates, and Instagram visuals
  • Thursday – Write blog posts, newsletters, and long-form content
  • Friday – Business admin: analytics, planning, scheduling/editing content

This system has helped me feel less scattered and more focused. It also ensures every aspect of my business gets attention during the week, even if I only have 60–90 minutes a day.

Working mom win: Theming my mornings has spilled over into other parts of life, too. I’ve started theming my cleaning tasks, meal planning, and even errands to reduce decision fatigue and make better use of limited time.

Hack #4: Lean Into Systems (So You Don’t Have to Rely on Motivation)

I used to think I just needed to want it more, more motivation to wake up early, work on my side hustle, or keep everything running at home. But the truth is, motivation is fickle. What helps is systems, repeatable processes that take the guesswork out of my days.

Here are a few systems that have changed the game for me:

  • Content Batching – I write blog posts and Instagram captions in batches on themed mornings, then schedule them with Later or Canva to auto-post.
  • Client Workflow Templates – I use email templates for onboarding Disney clients, confirming bookings, and sending reminders, which saves me tons of time.
  • Fitness Scheduling – I use an app for my workouts that I follow consistently. The workouts are planned and released every Sunday, so no guesswork on my part. Whether it’s a 30–45 minute sweat session in the early morning or a 90-minute walk on my walking pad while watching Disney vlogs at night, I prioritize movement 4–5 times a week. It boosts my mood, focus, and stamina for everything else I juggle.
  • Notion – My entire blog and Disney content plan lives in one digital platform, so I can brain-dump ideas and organize them by post, platform, or product. I put everything in Notion so that it travels across all of my devices (& I can work offline while commuting in.)

Why it works: These systems reduce the time I spend re-inventing the wheel. With limited hours in the day, I need to maximize every single minute, and systems do just that. Plus, they create breathing room so I can be more present with my family when the workday ends.

Hack #5: Make Time for Magic (Even on the Busiest Mornings)

This might sound fluffy, but it’s essential: I intentionally add a little magic into my mornings. Because if I’m not enjoying my life—even in the chaos—what’s the point?

Some mornings, that magic looks like playing Disney instrumental music while I sip my coffee (in my Disney Starbucks cup, of course). Other times, I’ll turn on my oil diffuser with my favorite Disney-themed scent or rewatch a short clip from a Disney vlog on YouTube while I plan content. And sometimes, it’s as simple as browsing new Disney snacks or park updates to get inspired before diving into work.

These small, intentional moments remind me why I started my Disney side hustle: to create joy, share magic, and help other families make unforgettable memories.

As a mom, I’m constantly giving to others. As a working professional, I’m often in “go mode.” So sprinkling a little magic into my mornings is how I stay grounded in joy. It’s not just about productivity—it’s about passion.

You Don’t Need More Time, You Need Better Mornings

I used to think I needed more hours in the day to juggle everything. But what I needed was a better morning routine—a way to start my day with intention, clarity, and a little bit of pixie dust.
